Beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather

Robert J. Larsson, 89, of Newington died on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Iris (Bauer) Larsson, for 53 years. He was predeceased by his son Keith Larsson. Bob's family would like to thank the staff on the Burnham wing of the Jefferson House, for all the care and compassion they gave Bob, during his brief stay there. Condolence & Memory Journal

I only today learned of Bob's death, and am saddened. I knew Bob best from my visit with you the summer after Ellen's death (1997): Bob's great pride in his Library accomplishments (always the servant and educator) and fondness for the art and character of Bing Crosby. He had no grandchildren then, but Facebook entries shared his love for them as for Dawn. May you find peace and joy in having known Bob and experienced his love.

Dear Iris and Family ~
What a meaningful and full life Bob had! The best part surely was love for his family. Wishing all of you the peace that passes all understanding as you savor the best memories you've shared.

I am so sorry that Bob has passed away. For several summers, I greatly enjoyed his film series at the Lucy Robbins Welles Library -- Bob had such a wealth of knowledge about movie history, and his commentaries at the series were so informative and delightful. My heartfelt sympathy to all his family -- may Bob rest in peace.

Mr. Larsson was one of the best teachers I had at NBHS. His love of American history led me to later major in history at CCSU but later became a elementary school teacher in New Britain for 35 years. His classroom presentation each day with a handwritten outline of that day's lesson made us all better note takers and helped us organize our thoughts. He definitely made me a better student. I am so sorry that you have lost him but you must have so many fond memories.

Our family offers our continuing love and support. We have shared and cherish our experiences in youth, growth, adulthood, and now, in life's most profound loss.

Bob has been in our prayers; for God's will to give you strength; to grant you remembrance of Bob's gifts, freely offered, his love of family and the pleasure he brought to those who knew him.

Dear Bob,Thank you for making my friend Iris so happy. Your life together certainly had its sorrow, with the illness and tragic loss of Keith, but the joys had to have been epic. May you dwell in the house of the Lord Forever. Amen.

Bob was a dear friend of my late father, Artie French. I was so blessed to know Bob, who was a kind and bright, bright man- truly a wonderful person devoted to his family and to knowledge. I had many interesting conversations with Bob about history, politics, and of course Bing, and was fortunate to visit him most recently in October. My brother Ken and I express our heartfelt condolences to Iris, Dawn & Bill, Ethan and Colin. We will miss him too. A good man. ~Kathy French
