Tribute & Message From The Family

Helen P. Kruczek, 88, of New Britain, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was a lifelong resident born to the late John and Mary (Labas) Pacinda and graduated from New Britain High School, Class of 1947. Helen was employed by CCSU as an assistant to the Dean of Graduate Studies from which she retired after 29 years of dedicated service. She spent her free time operating a small at home business making wedding cakes and trays of cookies. Amidst her everyday tasks of being a working mom, she still found the opportunity to be a Den Mother for her son's Cub Scout Troop and serve as a member of the Holy Cross Church Ladies' Guild. She and her late husband, Charles, fondly known as "Charlie Brown" enjoyed spending vacations at their beach house in Westerly, Rhode Island where she spent countless hours playing cards with her friends and enjoying the sunshine. Helen leaves a legacy of her delicious recipes. A well-remembered occasion not too long ago was when she participated in a community Heritage Night while visiting her son in S.C. Her love for cooking proved successful once again when she made over 300 golabki and 1,000 cookies for everyone to enjoy. Anyone who ever met Helen indeed became a friend and she will be missed by all those who know her. Helen is survived by her adored children: Richard Kruczek and his wife, Debby of Ninety Six, S.C., John Kruczek of Plainville and Ellen Robillard and her husband, Roland of Kensington; her grandchildren: Matthew, Tabitha and Nicholas Kruczek and Holly Robillard; her five great-grandchildren: Ella, Cameron, Ava, Kassidy and Nora; her sisters-in-law, Hilda and Mary and many nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her three sisters and four brothers.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, April 3 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St., New Britain. Her funeral service will begin at Burritt Hill on Wednesday, April 4 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, New Britain with her nephew, Rev. Patrick Kane, presiding. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in St. Mary Cemetery Garden Mausoleum, New Britain. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be directed to the Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405. Condolence & Memory Journal

Helen was a true and faithful friend of my mother, Mary Gwara, nee Gualano, from way back when they were young maidens, and in recent years she became dear to me also, as I spoke with her mostly on my mother's behalf. I enjoyed our conversations of many topics, especially those about life in her generation relating to my parents and me. As Helen excelled in her cooking of Polish food, she often spoke of some of my mother's favorites that she was fond of sharing with her over the years, which now are still among the few things of the past my mother has not forgotten. I couldn't have known Helen as well as her family or her lifelong friends, but I will remember her as sentimentally as I remember some of my closest friends. My sincere condolences go out to Ellen, and Helen's other children, and their families.

My deepest condolences in the loss of your dear Mother. She was a generous, warm and caring friend to my Aunt Mary and Uncle Wezy and they cherished the friendship of both your Parents for many years. Helen shared a biscotti recipe that I make each year with fond thoughts of her.
