Herbert F. Kenworthy, Jr. of Newington, CT passed away in Hartford Hospital on June 13, 2018. He was born in Danbury CT on October 20, 1930, son of the late Herbert Frank Kenworthy of Galesburg, IL and Mildred Ransom Kenworthy of Boston MA. Mr Kenworthy served in the US Army at Loring Air Force base in Maine at the time of the Korean Conflict. He graduated from St. Johns University in Collegeville, Minnesota and later with a Masters Degree from Fordham University School of Social Science in New York, NY in 1961. Following his graduation, he worked as a licensed clinical social worker in the Hartford school system. He also taught English as a second language at Hartford High School and Buckley High School. He was a member of the Association of Certified Social Workers and Administrative Assistant to Governor Dempsey's committee to study youthful wards of the state which in 1972 established the State of Connecticut Department of Children and Youth, now DCF. He was a sponsor social caseworker at St. John School in Deep River, CT. He also assisted at the Hartford YMCA, Youth Department for several years. Herbert Kenworthy was a licensed foster care parent for over 25 years with the State Department of Children and Youth for approximately 100 children. Mr. Kenworthy was a member of the Church of the Incarnation in Wethersfield, CT and was a member of the Oblates of St. Benedict of the Blue Cloud Abby in Marvin, South Dakota.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Mildred Kohler, Jessie Malone, Catherine Bonadio, a brother Robert Kenworthy of Gettysburg PA, and a nephew John Malone of Poway, CA. Left to honor and cherish his memory are a nephew John E. Kohler III, of Napa, CA, a niece Jill Malone of Brookfield, CT, and a nephew James Malone of Sherman, CT.

Relatives and friends may call for visitation on Friday, June 22, from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave, Newington, CT. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will then be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 AM at Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St, Wethersfield, CT.
