Obituary for Kristin B. DeMaio

March 5, 2018
Kensington, Connecticut

Loving, Wife, Mother, Sister and Friend

Kristin B.(Nightingale) DeMaio, 43, of Kensington, CT, loving wife of the late Michael DeMaio, passed away on March 5th 2018. Born in Manchester, NH, she was the daughter of the late Warren and Mary (Doyle) Nightingale. Kristin was a graduate of Manchester Central High School in Manchester, NH, class of 1992 and a graduate of Keene State College in Keene, NH, class of 1997. Kristin was a resident of Kensington, CT and a member of St. Paul's Church. She was a registered Dietetic Technician at Hartford Hospital where she loved her work, her colleagues, and helping people. Kristin had a strong and generous spirit, working hard to build a new life with her children after the heartbreaking loss of her husband Michael. Always quick with her wit, she brought laughter into the lives of her friends and family, sharing a kind thought with others who were going through difficult times or illness, always believing that someone else needed more help than herself. Kristin loved the ocean, spending endless summer days on the NH seacoast with her children, family and friends. She brought the love of the ocean to her son Michael and daughters Kailee and Taylor. She loved to read, share a glass of wine with a friend, or share new healthy recipes she had come across. Surrounding Kristin through her difficult and courageous battle with Ewing Sarcoma was her extensive community network from which the support, love and caring has been an overwhelming gift to Kristin, her children, her sister Karen, and the DeMaio and Nightingale families alike.
She will be deeply missed by her three beautiful children Michael, Kailee and Taylor, who were the loves of her life and the source of all her strength and joy. In addition to her children, she leaves to mourn her loss her six brothers and sisters; Alan Nightingale and wife Susan of Deering, NH, Kathy Trisciani and husband John of Manchester, NH, Susan Picknell and (late husband) Frank Picknell of New London, NH, Karen Nightingale of Hampton, NH, Kerriann Nightingale of Hampton, NH, and Jonathan Nightingale and wife Danielle of Manchester, NH; mother-in-law Barbara Ciancimino and husband James of Newington, CT, father-in-law Michael A. DeMaio and stepmother Patricia Sullivan of Windsor, CT. She also leaves behind sister-in-law Julie (DeMaio) Lucas and husband Tom of Madison, CT, and brother-in-law Paul DeMaio and wife Ellzbieta of Higganum, CT, and friend Scott Blasius of Norwalk, CT, along with several nieces and nephews. Kristin's funeral service will begin on Monday, March 12th at 8:30 am at Duksa Family Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave, in Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Paul's Church in Kensington. She will be laid to rest with her husband Michael in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford immediately following. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, March 11th from 3-8 p.m. at Newington Memorial.
