Ann (Faenza) Castagna, 87, of Newington, died peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family. She was the beloved wife of the late John William Castagna. Born and raised in Hartford, she has been a Newington resident for the past 36 years, and was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit. She owned and operated Ann's Grinder Shop, Hartford, for many years. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she leaves two daughters, Marie Castagna and Frances M. Kupisz, both of Newington, with whom she made her home, and a son John Castagna of Newington; devoted grandchildren, Mark Castagna and his wife Jackie, Jack, Brian and Brandon Kupisz and Lauren Windish and her husband Todd, all of Newington; six great grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas, T.J., Lanie, Anthony, and Christina; and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her daughter Patricia Ann Castagna. Her family would like to express its deepest gratitude for the wonderful care provided by Farmington Hospice. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, 9:00 a.m., from the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Newington. Interment will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m .to 8:00 p.m. at Newington Memorial.
