Michael A. “Mort” Provencal, 37, of New Britain, beloved son of Ruthann Florkowski Provencal, of Kensington, died Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at the Hospital of Central CT. He was born in New Britain and was raised in Newington. He was an ardent golfer and loved being on the green. He was an obsessive Red Sox fan, an avid fisherman and music enthusiast. Mike was a property manager at Riverpoint, East Hartford and was happiest helping others. Besides his mother, Mike is survived by his sister Michele Mader and her husband Philip, of Kensington, his Godchild and niece Heather Mader and nephew Philip Mader, Jr., his father Donald Provencal, his Aunt Dorothy Florkowski Recano, his aunt and uncle Walter and Pat Florkowski, several cousins and many loving “Grateful Brothers”. His funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, CT with the Rev. Jane White-Hassler officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Britain. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
